VENT-AXIA SENTINEL

What is a Sentinel Kinetic?

Sentinel Kinetic is Vent-Axia’s range of MVHR units, and one of the most common systems we see in new-build flats and family homes. It extracts stale, moist air from kitchens and bathrooms, recovers heat from it, and supplies filtered fresh air to the rest of the home.

We service and repair every model, including the Kinetic B, BH, FH, Plus B and High Flow. Your model is on the label on the unit, and it tells you which filters you need.

Sentinel Kinetic fault codes explained

When a fault has stopped the unit for more than 3 minutes, the display shows a fault code. If there’s more than one fault, the codes are added together.

01: Supply fan not running

The fan that brings fresh air in has stopped. Usually a failed motor or an electrical fault.

02: Extract fan not running

The fan that removes moist air has stopped. Expect condensation until it’s fixed.

03: Both fans not running

01 and 02 added together. The unit isn’t ventilating at all.

08: Supply temperature sensor

The sensor on the incoming air (T1) is faulty.

16: Extract temperature sensor

The sensor on the outgoing air (T2) is faulty.

32: Wired remote failure

The wired remote control isn’t communicating with the unit.

Other messages on the display

Check Filter

The filter service interval is up. Clean or replace the filters, then reset the reminder.

Summer Bypass On

Fresh air is bypassing the heat exchanger to help keep your home cool. Normal, not a fault.

Antifrost Active

The unit is cutting supply airflow in freezing weather to protect itself. Normal in very cold spells.

Room Too Cold

Below 5°C the fans stop. The unit restarts every hour to check the temperature.

Vent-Axia Sentinel questions

On a Sentinel Kinetic, 01 means the supply fan isn’t running and 02 means the extract fan isn’t running. The unit has switched itself off because of the fault, so book a fault-finding visit.

Codes are added together when there’s more than one fault, so 03 means both fans aren’t running (01 + 02).

Your filters are due. Clean or replace them, then reset the reminder using the button combination in your unit’s manual. We sell FH and BH filter sets, or can fit them at a service.

The room temperature has dropped below 5°C, so the unit has stopped its fans. It restarts every hour to check the temperature.

Vent-Axia recommends an annual professional service, with filters changed every 6 to 12 months depending on whether you live in an urban, suburban or rural area.

Yes. We sell FH and BH filter sets online and can post them to you, or fit them as part of a service.
